In 1984 Hiroshi Yoshimura was commissioned by Japanese perfume company Shiseido to create something that might be entirely out of his own wheelhouse: music that could complement a fragrance. Mixing bird song and sea sound with environmental field recordings, plus the usual electronics paraphernalia, he created something truly inspiring.
